Paris Carbone

Research Scientist

I am a doctor in distributed computing and had been a PhD candidate under the supervision of Seif Haridi during 2013-2018. My research focus lies at the intersection of distributed systems, data management and programming systems. During my PhD I worked on state management for unbounded data processing, window computation sharing and iterative analytics.

Several parts of my work have been contributed to leading data processing open source systems and are being used in production 24/7 over the last few years. Examples of such systems are Apache Flink® (Asynchronous Epoch Commit), Apache Storm (State Checkpointing Mechanism) and Apache Samoa (Flink Backend).
